Wrestling camp announced

Coeur d’Alene – North Idaho College will hold a wrestling camp for high school-age students, beginning Saturday through July 1. A second camp will be held July 6 through July 10 for students of all ages.

The high school camp will include technique instruction in the morning and two duals in the afternoon and evening. Teams will consist of approximately 15 weight classes and a team champion will be determined following pool competition.

The second camp will have a session designed specifically for girls and will include one technique session each day followed by two sessions of duals.

Cost is $330 per camp, which includes a T-shirt and room and board. The commuter rate is $230. The camps will be held in NIC’s Christianson Gym.

$3,000 for surgery raised

Hayden – On June 14, the Hayden community joined the Hayden Chamber of Commerce, Hayden Boy Scout Troop 911 and members of the Northern Lakes Fire District for a pancake breakfast and raffle to raise money for Tabatha Gass, a resident of Hayden who is in need of costly surgery to treat cysts on her spine. The goal is to raise $8,000, the remainder of funds needed to pay for her surgery.

The benefit raised $3,000 for the surgery.

Photo contest for pets

Hayden – The Kootenai Humane Society is accepting entries for a 2010 photo contest and calendar.

The participants are asked to submit their best pet photo. All photos will be posted on the KHS Web site. Visitors to the site will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite photo. The most popular photo will be on the cover of the 2010 pet photo calendar and the top 12 photos will appear in the calendar.

The entry fee is $10.

Teen band scores third

Spokane – Lazarus, with band members from the Bonners Ferry and Sagle areas, finished third in BOBfest 2009 on June 13, a teenage band competition sponsored by The Chase Youth Commission, Hoffman Music, College Road Recording and the YMCA.

Green Light Go was named the first-place winners; Olaf Olaf Olaf received second place and the People’s Choice Award.

The bands played three original songs and were judged by people in the Spokane music scene.
