Roundup: Idaho sophomore leads State Amateur golf tourney

University of Idaho sophomore Stefan Richardson of Renton, Wash., shot a 3-under-par 69 Wednesday to take the 36-hole lead with a 137 at the WSGA Washington State Men’s Amateur Championship at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman.

Derik Berg, last year’s runner-up, is one stroke back after the field of 144 was cut to 63 for the final two rounds.

David Fern of Spokane, a former Washington State University golfer, is third at 139. Other locals in the top 10 include Colin Guhlke of Davenport at 141 and Joel Dahmen of Clarkston at 142.

•Crissy Higgins of Spokane is seven strokes back in fourth place at the WSGA Women’s State Amateur Championship at Oakbrook Golf and Country Club in Lakewood, Wash. She shot an 82 in the second round for a two-round total of 156. Pamela Burneski of Surrey, B.C., leads at 149 with one round to go.

Baseball

The Spokane RiverHawks (7-6) cruised past Moses Lake 9-1 for their fourth consecutive West Coast League victory over the winless Pirates (0-13), including the last two in Avista Stadium.
