RiverHawks lose to Bend

BEND, Ore. – Cal Towey’s two-run double keyed a five-run third inning and the Bend Elks snapped the five-game winning streak of the Spokane RiverHawks with a 7-5 victory in West Coast League baseball play on Saturday.

Neither starting pitcher lasted long. Spokane’s Andy Hunter went just two-plus innings and allowed six runs, five earned, on five hits and two walks. Bend’s Peter Levine went four innings and surrendered five runs, three earned, on six hits.

Spokane (8-7) sits in third place – 31/2 games behind front-running Wenatchee in the East Division.

Bend (7-7) evened its record and trails first-place Corvallis by three games in the West.
