Three things we’ll be talking about this week

1 The Fourth of July falls on a Saturday this year, but AAA says economic worries will keep more people celebrating near home; holiday travel is expected to fall nearly 2 percent. Luckily, there’s plenty to do in and around the Inland Northwest; visit spokane7.com for a list of celebrations or read Friday’s Spokesman-Review.

2 The long holiday weekend will officially kick off Wednesday. At least that’s how Hollywood sees it. For the kids, there’s the third installment of the “Ice Age” series. For grownups, there’s “Public Enemies,” starring Johnny Depp as gangster John Dillinger and Christian Bale as the fed out to bust him.

3 When the Tour de France begins its three-week journey Saturday, a familiar face will be in the crowd, in an unfamiliar position. Seven-time winner Lance Armstrong has un-retired and signed on with the Astana team. The question is: Can the Texan win it an eighth time, while riding in a supporting role?
