Woman hit by train identified

A California woman is dead, and a Rathdrum man is in critical condition at Kootenai County Medical Center after being hit Monday by trains in Idaho. The woman has been identified as Cynthia L Brodersen, 45, of Grover Beach, Calif., according to Idaho State Police. About 10 p.m. Monday, a Union Pacific train hit a woman lying on the tracks in Post Falls, police said. Brodersen was killed in the incident. When the woman was hit, the train was traveling well under the recommended speed limit, police said. Earlier in the day, a man was found lying next to the tracks near the intersection of Highway 53 and Mill Road, police said. Henderson Wallen, 28, had suffered severe injuries to his back. He told police he’d been hit by a train. Authorities found Wallen about 6 a.m. Monday. Alcohol is believed to be a factor. Rathdrum Police are looking for anyone who may have seen Wallen late Sunday or early Monday.
