Date of shopping event changes

Desperate Housewives event next Saturday

From Staff Reports

Greater Hayden’s Desperate Housewives, an event planned by the Hayden Chamber of Commerce, will be held next Saturday, instead of the previously announced date of April 18.

This day of select shopping starts at 9 a.m. and goes until 6 p.m. Named after the popular television program, “Desperate Housewives,” this event showcases seven local businesses that have banded together to provide a luxurious day of shopping for women.

Because of the economic downturn that caused the closure of shops such as Italian Blue, events have been coordinated though the Chamber’s Kevin Clements to promote shops along Government Way.

Marty Fortier, owner of the Design Center off Government Way says, “The forced economic conditions has caused even this center, that was created to provide fixtures for the upper-level housing market, to transform into providing retail space for the general market. The flip side of this market is that business owners can secure Class A space, a newer building with great parking, for very affordable prices.”

In the present economic downturn, Hayden Chamber of Commerce’s President Nancy Lowery states, “It is our purpose to showcase businesses and to benefit our community. The cool thing about our little city and the surrounding areas is that you can still go into one of our shops and you know that shop owner. You get that one-on-one small town feeling and personalized service.”

The shops include Picket Fence, Unique Motif, The Gourmet Way, Creative Touch Floral, Handmade in Idaho Country Gift Store, A Touch of Romance and Just Because. Have lunch and goodies at Ciao Mamba and Daanen’s Delicatessen.

Shoppers are eligible for a $500 grand prize, just for stopping by all unique boutiques. For more information, call the Chamber at (208) 762-1185 or visit www.HaydenChamber.org.
