Missing K-9 dog found, back on duty
SAGLE, Idaho – A K-9 drug-detection dog named Zip is back on the job in North Idaho.
The 7-year-old border collie with a white stripe down his face and black ears disappeared for a day after being let outside Thursday as part of his morning routine.
That caused the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office to ask for the public’s help in finding Zip.
A dispatcher with the sheriff’s office says Zip was returned Friday by someone who thought he was a stray rather than a highly trained K-9 officer.
Sheriff’s officials say Zip has no history of taking off for extended periods but there is no indication of foul play.
They say Zip is trained to sniff out illegal drugs and has a friendly temperament.
