Familiar faces abound at Idaho All-Star games

There’s a hint of a rematch of the State 5A girls basketball championship game when the seniors gather Saturday for the sixth annual Idaho State High School All-Star doubleheader at North Idaho College’s Rolly Williams Court.

Coeur d’Alene held off Centennial 54-50 in overtime three weeks ago in the 5A final. Six players and the coaches from those teams will square off when the North takes on the South at NIC.

Coeur d’Alene seniors Kama Griffitts, Amy Warbrick, Sadie Simon and Natalie Stewart will play one more time for their coach, Dale Poffenroth, who will coach the North. For the South, Centennial coach Emery Roy will lead a team that includes two of his Centennial standouts, Heather Adams and Jade McNorton.

The girls tip things off in the first game at 1 p.m. The boys game is scheduled for 3:30.

The games will be broadcast live on Idahosports.com. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for students and senior citizens.

Also featured will be a 3-point shooting contest with the girls facing off against the boys and a slam-dunk contest between the games.

Joining the CdA girls on the North team are Ashley Winkelseth of Bonners Ferry, Morgan Wolfe of Kendrick, Katie Baker of Lake City, Camille Reynolds of Lakeland, Rian Miller of Lakeside, Kiki Edwards-Teasley of Lewiston, Jordan Schoening of Post Falls and Jenny Thomas of Sandpoint.

The North boys consist of three players from 5A state champion Lewiston and three players from Lake City, which shared the Inland Empire League title with Lewiston. Making up the North roster are Nate and Ben Frisbie and Jason Wheelock of LC, Jared Heitzman, Ryan Young and Peter Gregg of Lewiston, Austin Black of Lakeland, Justin Carter of Post Falls, Jared Bilaski of Wallace, Aaron Corsi of St. Maries, Spencer Swerin of Sandpoint and Patrick Lagrimanta of Timberlake. Lewiston coach Dave Cornelia will coach the North.
