TV grid reflects digital conversion

Our daily TV listings have a new, digital look beginning this week.

As part of the conversion to digital broadcasting, most local stations have turned off their old, analog signals. Our listings for broadcast channels now reflect that, with channels identified by their call letters and the digital signal numbers used to receive them with an antenna.

Among those, KXLY 4.1 carries the programming formerly on analog 4; KHQ 6.1 replaces analog 6; KSPS 7.1 replaces analog 7; KQUP 24.1 replaces analog 47; and KAYU 28.1 replaces analog 28.

KREM continues to broadcast on both analog 2 and digital 2.1, and KSKN on analog 22 and digital 22.1. KGPX remains all-analog on channel 34.

Several stations also have digital subchannels, including 4.2, MyNetwork TV; 6.2, SWX (sports/weather); 6.3, Universal Sports; 7.2, PBS World; 7.3, Create TV; and 28.2, THIS Spokane TV (movies/sitcoms).

If you’re on cable or satellite, these digital channels may appear under different channel numbers. Check your provider’s program listings; a program guide also appears in the TV Week book in Sunday’s Spokesman-Review, and will list the digital channels starting next Sunday.
