Favorite features, new look for Sunday Handle Extra

Your Sunday edition of The Spokesman-Review just got better.

Along with the news, features and photography you’ve come to expect from the Sunday Spokesman-Review, we’ve added Handle Extra.

We’ve combined the best elements from Saturday’s Handle Extra and Thursday’s Prairie Voice into a stronger Sunday package. We’ve added a few new features, too, and expanded distribution of Handle Extra into Shoshone County.

Newsstands will have a new look with the Sunday Spokesman-Review wrapped inside Handle Extra, a weekly publication filled with news produced by our reporters in Coeur d’Alene and Boise and correspondents throughout North Idaho. Readers who receive home delivery will find the section tucked inside their regular paper.

Blogger and award-winning columnist Dave Oliveria and S-R Boise bureau chief Betsy Russell will anchor Sunday’s Handle Extra. Oliveria’s must-read Huckleberries column and Russell’s Eye on Boise column will appear on the cover each week.

Inside the section are longtime popular Handle Extra correspondents Nils Rosdahl on retail business and Patrick Jacobs on the music, entertainment and restaurant scene.

Other community news features include Mary Jane Honegger’s Rathdrum Prairie News, Patty Hutchens’ Slice of Sandpoint columns and Michelle Boss on Panhandle weather.

Staff writers and correspondents will provide news and features from Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls and other North Idaho communities.

Greg Lee, covering North Idaho prep sports for 25 years, will continue his weekly features and season previews.

We encourage participation from our readers. If you have a story idea, a calendar event, team photo, public meeting or important announcement you want published, send an e-mail to idahovoice@spokesman.com.

In addition, we have two outlets for citizen journalism.

Vocal Point is written by members of the community about issues of area interest. Have a riff – let readers hear about it.

Citizen Journal is a forum in which Voice readers can publish their own feature stories, neighborhood news items and photographs. Please try to limit submission to 600 words or less. Once again, e-mail to idahovoice@spokeman.com.

We hope to hear from you. And let us know what you think of our new addition to the Sunday Spokesman-Review.
