Wine lovers’ group to host tasting

The North Idaho Enological Association will hold a wine tasting Friday at the Lake City Senior Center, 1916 Lakewood Drive, at 6 p.m.

The event includes a variety of wines, hors d’oeuvres and John Allen of Vino! A Wine Shop.

Cost is $32 per person or $24 for members of the association. Reservations are required.

Art on the Green designs sought

The Citizens Council for the Arts is currently accepting poster designs for the 41st annual Art on the Green, planned July 31 through Aug. 2 at North Idaho College.

The winning design will also be used for T-shirts, pins, programs and festival literature.

Entries must be original artwork, in finished form but unframed. The poster must be 12-by-16 inches and must include or allow space for: the 41st annual Art on the Green; July 31, Aug. 1-2, 2009; On the Grounds of North Idaho College; The Citizens Council for the Arts; and the CCA logo.

The winning entry will receive $600 along with a T-shirt featuring the winning design.

Entries can be submitted to the Citizens Council for the Arts, 411 N. 15th St. in Coeur d’Alene, or Flammia and Solomon, 317 E. Wallace Ave. Deadline is March 23.

Youth theater classes starting

Christian Youth Theater-North Idaho will begin its spring session of classes on March 24 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave. in Coeur d’Alene. Classes will meet each Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. for 10 weeks. Classes are for kids ages 6 to 18.

Courses include beginning drama, voice, dance, and swing dance, improvathon, That’s Entertainment (an intermediate musical theater class), and beginning theater (for 6- and 7-year-olds).

All students will perform at the end of the session with their class. In addition to classes, all students ages 8-18 will have the opportunity to audition for “The Wizard of Oz,” which will be performed in May.

Writing contest in need of judges

Volunteers are needed for the 21st annual Writer’s Competition at the Coeur d’Alene Library.

The competition is for fiction and nonfiction prose of 2,000 words or less. No poetry will be accepted. Age categories are: 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-18 and 19-Plus. Four judges are needed for each age group (with the exception of the 6-8 group). Each judge will review both fiction and nonfiction.

The deadline for entries is March 31; entries will be available for judges by April 10.
