Spokane forecasters may be a little optimistic today as spring begins. They are calling for a high of 57 degrees, which would be the warmest day in the city since November.

Spring arrived with the vernal equinox at 4:44 a.m.

Coeur d’Alene should see 55, Pullman, 57, and Sandpoint, 53.

Also in the forecast is a chance of light showers or sprinkles, especially this morning, and a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.

The milder weather should be short-lived. Highs will drop back to the mid-40s Saturday and Sunday with a continuing chance of showers. The chance of precipitation is between 40 and 50 percent through Sunday night.
