South Side in brief: Half-day camps set at Corbin Art Center

The Corbin Art Center will host the Corbin Kids Half-Day Creative Adventure Camps, from Monday through next Friday, for kids ages 6 to 11. The camps are in two shifts, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 12:30 to 4 p.m.

Kids will have the opportunity to do creative crafts and play games.

Cost is $65 and pre-registration is required.

Veterans wheelchair event needs volunteers in July

Volunteers are needed for the 29th annual National Veterans Wheelchair Games scheduled in Spokane on July 13-18. The event is the largest annual wheelchair sporting event in the world, and more than 500 athletes are expected to participate in the competition sponsored by the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The six days of competition will feature 17 events, including quad rugby, archery, swimming, and track and field events. Admission to the event will be free to the public.

Volunteers can select which events they would like to help with and which days they can be available. Volunteers will receive a T-shirt. Contact Kathy Kovalesky at (509) 434-7510 to sign up by Wednesday.

Girl Scouts selling cookies, including new flavor

Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho will be selling cookies through April 12.

Cookies include Thin Mints, Samoas, Do-Si-Dos, Trefoils and Tagalongs. The Dulce de Leche, a new flavor, is being introduced this year.

Youth group offers event to explain its outreach

Cup of Cool Water Youth Outreach will host an open house today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cup of Cool Water Ministries, 1106 W. Second Ave.

The nonprofit organization aims to share the services and activities of its outreach group with the community.

The event is open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
