Hearth Homes fundraiser Friday

Hearth Homes will have an auction and dinner Friday, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Victory Faith Fellowship, 2024 N. Argonne Road.

Auction items include tickets to Silverwood Theme Park, hotel stays, Southwest Airlines tickets and more.

The dinner is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested.

Hearth Homes also was recently awarded a $4,000 grant from Rotary Club 21 of Spokane to help finish the remodel of its new transitional home in Spokane Valley.

Parks department hosts bridge walk

Spokane Parks and Recreation is hosting the Spokane Bridge Walk 2009 on June 6.

The family event is a 4  ½ mile walk that will cross 17 bridges in Spokane, beginning with the Monroe Street Bridge.

Families will journey through Riverfront Park, cross the historic bridges and end at the Rotary Riverfront Fountain back in the park.

After completing the walk, participants will receive a collector’s lapel pin, commemorating a “bridge of the year.”

This year’s bridge will be the Monroe Street Bridge.

Cost is $17 per person; $10 for kids ages 5 through 16, and children ages 4 and under are free.

Late registration is available on June 6, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., for an additional $10.
