Spokane man injured in 395 wreck

The Spokesman-Review

A Spokane man was hospitalized after a two-vehicle accident about 3:30 p.m. today on Highway 395 south of Chewelah.

Joseph A. Thompson, 68, was driving his 1993 Buick Regal south on 395 when it collided with a Chevy S10 pickup driven by Louis Adolph Tomsha, 90, of Valley, Wa., according to the Washington State Patrol. Tomsha had stopped at the stop sign at the junction of highways 231 and 395. He then proceeded onto 395, where his truck was hit by Thompson’s car. The highway was blocked for about an hour.

Tomsha was treated at the scene and released, police said. Thompson was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chewelah, and later airlifted to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. His condition was not immediately available.
