Treated Four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon had an injection in his back to help ease the pain he’s had for more than a year, and he said he’ll be able to drive this weekend in the Coca-Cola 600, the longest race of the season.

Remaining Duke’s Gerald Henderson has signed with an agent and will remain in the NBA draft. Henderson was a third-team Associated Press All-American last season and led the Blue Devils in scoring.

Awarded Golfing great Arnold Palmer was honored in Irving, Texas, with the Bryon Nelson Prize, which was established after Nelson’s death in 2006. It’s given to a person or organization in golf who exemplifies the ideals of “giving back.”

Chooses Point guard John Wall, one of the nation’s most sought-after high school recruits, has decided to play for John Calipari and Kentucky. The player from Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, N.C., had been pursued by numerous schools including Duke, Kansas and Miami.

Hired Former Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals head coach Dennis Green will serve as chairman of the competition committee for the new United Football League. It’s a job Green once held in the NFL.

Filed Former NBA great Elgin Baylor is suing an insurance and construction company for water damage to his Beverly Hills, Calif., mansion. The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
