Associated Press

KYRS-Thin Air Community Radio of Spokane has received permission to build a full-power station.

The Federal Communications Commission granted the permit, allowing the non-commercial station to broadcast at 6,500 watts and cover the Spokane area and communities north to Colville.

KYRS has been broadcasting with 100 watts since October 2003.

KYRS broadcasts unique, locally produced Spanish-language, Native American, African American, environmental news, and youth programs.
