Restore German at WSU

The Spokesman-Review

Recently, many Review articles have described programs to be eliminated at Washington State University. All state educational institutions are the victims of Olympia’s (Democratic majority) fiscal mismanagement and misguided priorities.

The College of Liberal Arts has announced that the German major will be eliminated for financial reasons. This decision means that students desiring to major in this discipline will not have an Eastern Washington public university option available since Eastern Washington University does not offer German as a major.

It’s disappointing that this self-described “world class” university snubs Europe’s economic engine and the opportunities it can offer WSU students and future graduates. Hopefully, Dr. Douglas Epperson will reconsider his decision and continue to offer the German major to students in Eastern Washington.
