Rescue crews looking for woman in Spokane River

The Spokesman-Review
Rescue crews are combing the Spokane River for a woman who was believed to have disappeared into the water near People’s Park, authorities said. Few details were available late Wednesday as Spokane firefighters scrambled to get search crews into position. A command post was established at Riverside and Clark, and the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was placed on standby. According to the Fire Department, a distress call was received at 9:57 p.m. Authorities mobilized the marine rescue unit and sent crews down river to watch for the woman. A rescue boat was launched at about 10:30 p.m.
