Dicks’ integrity solid

The Spokesman-Review

How sad and unfair that a security breach at the House Ethics Committee has revealed that Congressman Norm Dicks is the subject of a preliminary review. The damage to Norm’s reputation will take time to repair, but when the facts are known, I hope you and other media outlets will be as quick to report his exoneration as you were to report the improperly leaked innuendos.

I have known Norm Dicks and his wife, Suzie, for nearly 40 years. Norm was a childhood hero as a member of a Husky Rose Bowl championship team. When I served in government, I considered Norm a mentor and a friend. During a long House career untainted by even the slightest whiff of scandal, Norm has fought hard for the citizens of his district, our state and our nation. For anyone to allege that any of Norm’s actions have been motivated by anything less than the public interest is preposterous.
