In brief: Cavaliers roll in West’s season debut

NBA: Delonte West scored 13 points in his delayed season debut, Mo Williams added 24 and LeBron James 14 as the Cleveland Cavaliers, back at full strength, rolled to a 90-79 win over the visiting Charlotte Bobcats.

Williams scored 12 in the fourth quarter – all on 3-pointers for the Cavs, now 2-2 after a 0-2 start.

After missing all eight preseason games and Cleveland’s first three of the regular season to deal with personal issues, the troubled and valuable West was cleared by team doctors.

Rockets down Blazers: Trevor Ariza scored a career-high 33 points, Aaron Brooks added 28 points and the host Houston Rockets held on to beat the Portland Trail Blazers at home for the fifth straight time in the regular season, 111-107. Brandon Roy scored 42 points for Portland.

•In other highlights, Andre Iguodala scored 32 points, including the go-ahead three-point play in overtime, and the Philadelphia 76ers blew a 23-point lead before beating the New York Knicks 141-127. … Gilbert Arenas scored 32 points, including a halfcourt buzzer-beater at the end of the first quarter, Andray Blatche scored a career-high 30, and the host Washington Wizards overcame the absence of both of their regular starting forwards in a 123-104 win over the New Jersey Nets. … Rookie Brandon Jennings scored 21 of his 24 points in the second half, Hakim Warrick came off the bench to add 21 points and the Milwaukee Bucks won their home opener with a 96-85 victory over the Detroit Pistons. Rodney Stuckey scored 13 for Detroit.

Busch bumped to Trucks victory

Auto racing: Kyle Busch used a generous bump from teammate Aric Almirola a few hundred yards from the finish to win the NASCAR Camping World Trucks race at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

Busch and Almirola pulled wide behind leader Todd Bodine on the final lap and Almirola nudged Busch’s No. 51 Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota to the front. They overtook Bodine just before the finish line in fading daylight at the 2.66-mile oval.

The win was Busch’s sixth in the Trucks series this season and his fourth in his last four starts.

Points leader Ron Hornaday Jr. was collected in an 11-car pileup with five laps remaining and finished 17th though he still has a comfortable 202-point lead over Matt Crafton with three races left in the season.

Hamilton takes pole for GP: McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton put in a stunning final lap in qualifying to claim the pole position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in the United Arab Emirates. Hamilton was trailing the Red Bull drivers entering his last lap, but then circled the new Yas Marina circuit in 1 minute, 40.948 seconds to beat Sebastian Vettel by more than six-tenths of a second.

Rookie notches another shutout

NHL: Rookie Tuukka Rask turned aside 19 shots for his second shutout in eight NHL starts, and Vladimir Sobotka and Blake Wheeler set each other up for goals to lead host Boston over Edmonton 2-0.

In other highlights, Ondrej Pavelec made 50 saves, and Rich Peverley had a goal and assist for Atlanta, which broke a four-game losing streak by beating host Ottawa. … Martin Biron earned his 200th NHL win and 26th career shutout, and Jeff Tambellini scored three goals for his first career hat trick as the host New York Islanders routed the Buffalo Sabres 5-0. … Tomas Vokoun stopped all 34 shots for his 32nd NHL shutout and Nathan Horton had a goal and an assist as the Florida Panthers beat the host St. Louis Blues 4-0.

Cook six strokes up in Schwab Cup

Golf: John Cook took a six-stroke lead in a bid for his second Champions Tour victory in three weeks, shooting a 5-under 67 in the third round of the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship at Sonoma, Calif. He had a 19-under 197 total on the Sonoma Golf Club course, the best 54-hole score in a 72-hole tournament since Jack Nicklaus also had a 197 total in the 1990 Senior Players Championship.

Kim to meet Fisher in final: Ross Fisher beat Masters champion Angel Cabrera on the third playoff hole to set up a World Match Play Championship final against Anthony Kim in Casares, Spain. Kim advanced by beating Robert Allenby 5 and 4.

PGA event canceled: PGA Tour officials canceled the weather-stricken Viking Classic in Madison, Miss., because of unplayable course conditions.

Choi, Tseng lead in LPGA event: Na Yeon Choi of South Korea shot a 71 and Taiwan’s Yani Tseng had a 70 to share the lead at 5-under par after a wet and windy second round of the LPGA Tour’s KOLON Championship in Incheon, South Korea at 139.

Chinese team skates to crown in Bejing

Figure skating: Competing at their first event since winning the 2007 world title, Chinese pair Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo claimed gold at the Cup of China figure skating event in Beijing with a landslide victory. Their score of 200.97 points was almost 15 ahead of reigning world silver medalists Zhang Dan and Zhang Hao.

Japan’s Nobunari Oda won his second Grand Prix title of the season, beating world champion Evan Lysacek in the men’s competition. Akiko Suzuki of Japan was the surprise winner in a lackluster women’s competition, while Olympic silver medalists Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto easily won the ice dance title.

Perez takes boxing title: Yohnny Perez floored Joseph Agbeko in the 10th round and won a unanimous decision to take the International Boxing Federation bantamweight title in the first boxing match at Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
