Extended Boston point guard Rajon Rondo says he has agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Celtics, keeping the star from entering the market as a restricted free agent after the season. The deal has yet to be signed but Rondo said Monday that was just a “formality.”

Suspended 40-year-old journeyman Doug Barron, who lost his tour card three years ago, became the first player to be suspended by the PGA Tour for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance. He was suspended for one year, the PGA Tour said.

Died Former NBA player and successful Seattle-area high school boys basketball coach Phil Lumpkin, 57, has died, O’Dea High School, were he coached, announced Monday. He missed work last week after being diagnosed with pneumonia.
