North Spokane YMCA has appointments open
All appointments have been filled for a free swine flu vaccination clinic Saturday at the Spokane Valley YMCA, the Spokane Regional Health District announced Tuesday.
Several hundred appointments are still available for the Nov. 14 free clinic at the North Spokane YMCA. The clinic is only giving the nasal mist form of the vaccine – which means the only people eligible include healthy people ages 2 to 24 who are not pregnant and healthy adults up to age 49 who are health care workers or care for an infant younger than 6 months.

The eligibility standards are expected to relax once higher-risk populations are vaccinated.
The health district also announced that shipments of the vaccines – delayed by production shortages – are beginning to arrive in greater numbers to area health care providers.
For those unable to get the vaccine through health care providers, the health district plans to host five more walk-in clinics. It’s unknown if these clinics will offer both the nasal spray form of the vaccine and the shot form, which has been in greatest demand to protect pregnant women, babies, and people with underlying health conditions.
The five newly scheduled walk-in clinics will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the following dates:
Nov. 18 at the Airway Heights Community Center, 13120 W. 13th Ave.
Dec. 1 at Spokane Valley Partners, 10814 E. Broadway Ave.
Dec. 2 at the West Central Community Center, 1603 N. Belt St.
Dec. 8 at the East Central Community Center, 500 S. Stone St.
Dec. 10 at the Northeast Community Center, 4001 N. Cook St.
