Four teams creep within one victory of state berth

The Cusick Panthers, Sprague-Harrington Falcons, Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors and Northport Mustangs are one win away from a trip to the State 1B tournament after Wednesday’s District 7 play at Cusick and Coulee City.

Cusick will play Sprague-Harrington at 11 a.m. and ACH will take on Northport at 12:30 p.m. in a pair of winner-to-state matches Saturday at Northwest Christian HS.

The two losers will battle Columbia and Odessa for the third berth to state.

In the first match of the day at Cusick, Lydia Treischel totaled 11 kills, 16 digs and seven service aces to power Cusick to a 21-25, 29-27, 21-25, 25-7, 15-8 win over the Wilbur-Creston Wildcats.

In the second match at Cusick, Kate Bouchard had 15 kills and five blocks and Candace Hanson added 38 assists and four aces to guide Sprague-Harrington to an 18-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 win over the Columbia Lions.

In the final match at Cusick, Lindsay Loe had nine kills, 26 digs and six blocks to lead Columbia to a 19-25, 25-15, 25-17, 25-23 win over W-C.

In the first match of the day at Coulee City, Sarah Gloyn had 12 kills, MiKinzie Ashley handed out 15 assists and Madeline Isaak notched eight aces to lead Almira/Coulee-Hartline to a 25-18, 25-20, 25-8 sweep of the Curlew Cougars.

In the second match at Coulee City, Shyanne Wilson totaled six kills, six assists and nine blocks to propel Northport to a 25-22, 25-15, 25-16 sweep of the Odessa Tigers.

In the final match at Coulee City, Rylee Paris notched seven kills to send Odessa to a 25-10, 25-16, 25-16 sweep of Curlew.
