Winter storm warning issued
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning this morning for Eastern Washington and North Idaho, with six to 12 inches of snow expected in the mountains above 3,500 feet.
The warning is in effect from 7 a.m. today until 4 a.m. Sunday.
Heavy snow accumulations are expected in the mountains around Sandpoint, Chewelah, and Metaline Falls, the weather service said. The snow was expected to begin falling in the mountains this morning, with additional accumulation through the night tonight.
Gusting winds are expected in the region, with 30 to 40 miles per hour gusts on mountain ridges.
