Whitworth ends season with victory

Milton Nelson and Sean Scott each ran for a pair of touchdowns to propel the Whitworth Pirates to a season-ending 34-7 win over the Lewis & Clark Pioneers in Northwest Conference action Saturday in Portland.

Nelson, who rushed for 85 yards, scored on runs of 22 and 9 yards. Scott, who finished with 87 yards rushing, scored on runs of 9 and 40 yards.

Cailen Thomason had his third interception of the season and Paul Werhane topped the Whits with six tackles.

Central Washington 20, Central Oregon 6: Johnny Spevak scored on a 66-yard pass from Cole Morgan and Randall Eldridge added a 7-yard TD run as the second-ranked Wildcats (11-0, 6-0) scored twice in the third quarter en route to a Great Northwest Athletic Conference victory over the Wolves (5-5, 3-3) in Monmouth, Ore.

Willamette 50, Puget Sound 6: Scott Schoettgen hauled in nine passes for 135 yards and four touchdowns – three from backup quarterback Kevin Ramay – and the 22nd-ranked Bearcats (7-2, 4-1) rolled to a Northwest Conference victory over the Loggers (0-8, 0-5) in Tacoma.

Pacific Lutheran 35, Menlo 17: Jordan Rasmussen passed for 244 yards and four touchdowns and Eric Magnussen returned a fumble 22 yards for a score as the Lutes (3-5, 3-2) cruised to a victory over the Oaks (4-5, 3-2) in Northwest Conference play in Puyallup, Wash.

Carroll 48, Eastern Oregon 43: Gary Wagner threw for 391 yards and four touchdowns – three to Corey Peterson – and the second-ranked Saints (11-0, 10-0) held off the Mountaineers (7-4, 7-3) in Frontier Conference play in La Grande, Ore.

Carroll rallied three times from behind to take the lead before putting it away in the fourth quarter.

Eastern Oregon scored a pair of rushing touchdowns – the first allowed by the Saints this season.
