Colville claims GNL No. 3
Brock Dotts scored two decisive touchdowns as Colville prevailed in the Great Northern League’s double-elimination Kansas Tiebreaker on Monday at Riverside to advance to the first round of the State 2A football playoffs.
Dotts’ 25-yard run and Sam Anderson’s extra point kick produced a 7-6 win over Deer Park in the final game, earning the Indians the No. 3 seed from the GNL and a first-round state playoff date at Othello on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Deer Park had scored first, but missed the extra point.
The Stags, who wound up playing in all four games, defeated Cheney 13-10 in the first round of the Kansas Tiebreaker, then fell 20-18 to Colville in the second as Dotts scored the winner on a 3-yard run.
The Stags came back to eliminate Cheney 6-0 before succumbing to Colville in the winner-to-state, loser-out game.
Tevin Heins had a big day for Deer Park, scoring five touchdowns.
The GNL’s No. 1 seed, West Valley, will be home to entertain Selah in first-round action Friday at 7 p.m. Colville, the GNL No. 2 seed, travels to Ellensburg for a first-round game, also on Friday at 7.
