Michael L. Johns, of Athol, died at the scene of the 5:15 p.m. crash, according police. The driver of the other car, 27-year-old Jayme Ruben Shottanana, of Bonners Ferry, was taken to Kootenai Medical Center for injuries and was reported in fair condition today.
Johns was driving a 1995 Dodge Intrepid. Shottanana was in a 2002 Jeep Liberty. Troopers reported that alcohol consumption may be a factor in the collision, they were working late Monday to sort out evidence to determine how the crash occurred, including direction of travel for each vehicle.
