Stand up to tyranny

The Spokesman-Review

John Adams wrote: “Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”

Our government officials appear to be unaware of anything other than their inclinations, their passions. Facts? Those are irrelevant and nuisances.

Shame on them.

Voters’ final chance to voice their opinions regarding government-run health care is here. Many have expressed that this plan is plum full of perils for all age, economic, religious and social groups. This bill includes heinously tyrannical elements such as the following: Taxpayers who do not choose to subscribe to a plan, regardless of reason, will be fined. One call or e-mail will not mean a hill of beans to our senators but a few thousand will; furthermore, we can pledge to politicians that an affirmative vote on this bill will be political suicide. Our senators’ political futures can be at stake.

Here’s an undeniable fact: Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell care much more about that than they do you or me. Please call Sen. Cantwell at (888) 648-7328 or Sen. Murray at (866) 481-9186. Tell them to vote no.
