Suspended Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe has been suspended for four games for violating the NFL’s policy against performance-enhancing substances. Bowe leads the team with 33 catches, including six catches for 91 yards last weekend in a win at Oakland. He also had a season-high 109 yards in the Chiefs’ other win, at Washington.
Cut The Baltimore Ravens cut kicker Steve Hauschka, who missed a 36-yard field goal and had a conversion blocked in Monday night’s 16-0 win over Cleveland. No replacement was immediately chosen. Former New York Jets kicker Mike Nugent and former Dallas Cowboys kicker Billy Cundiff worked out for the Ravens last week.
Scheduled Portland Trail Blazers forward Travis Outlaw will have surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot. It is not known when he might return. Outlaw fractured the foot last Saturday during the first quarter of the Trail Blazers’ game against Charlotte. Outlaw averages 10.9 points per game.
•Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson needs surgery again. The All-Star will have arthroscopic surgery on torn cartilage in his left knee. He is expected to miss four to six weeks. Nelson was injured in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s win against Charlotte.
Pleaded Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge after he was accused of punching a man outside a downtown nightclub last month. The 26-year-old was traded to the New York Jets two days after he was accused of punching a friend of NBA star LeBron James on Oct. 5.
Pulled A left knee injury has forced Andy Roddick to withdraw from the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals. The No. 6-ranked Roddick hurt his knee at last month’s Shanghai Masters.
Forfeited Cyclist Davide Rebellin of Italy will be stripped of the silver medal in the road race from the 2008 Beijing Olympics because of doping. Rebellin was one of five athletes who tested positive in April for CERA, an advanced version of the blood-boosting drug EPO, in new tests using retroactive blood samples taken at the games.
