Thanksgiving services set

The First Church of Christ, Scientist, 310 E. 14th Ave., will present its annual Thanksgiving Day service next Thursday at 10 a.m.

For more than 100 years, this church has been offering this service to the community. It will include a Bible lesson, the national Thanksgiving Day Proclamation, prayer, hymns and words of gratitude from the congregation.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 5810 S. Meadowlane Road, will offer a Thanksgiving worship service Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The service will be followed by a pie social.

•St. David’s Episcopal Church, 7315 N. Wall St., will present “Celtic Praise and Thanksgiving” Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The worship service will include Celtic music and communion and a party with blue grass music by Janet and Brett Dodd following the service.

Bazaar

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 3307 W. Rowan Ave., will present its Fifth Annual Bazaar, Craft Sale and Chili Cook-off Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The day will include prize-winning chili, gifts and more. Tables are available for $10 and prizes for the best chili will be awarded.

Family movie

Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church, 4449 N. Nevada St., will show the film “Christmas in Connecticut,” Friday at 7 p.m.

The movie is about a magazine’s housekeeping writer, Barbara Stanwyck, who hosts a war hero for Christmas dinner in her Connecticut home with her family, even though the writer has no Connecticut home, no husband, no kids and has never been in a kitchen.

Free snacks will be served.

Christian Singles Fellowship will hold its monthly meeting Saturday at 7 p.m. at North Addison Baptist Church, 6120 N. Addison St.

This month’s topic will be “Bearing Fruit,” and the speaker will be Dennis Roach.
