Fire District 8 – Commissioners selected Dennis Ross to fill the vacant commissioner position. He was sworn in Thursday.

Valley Fire – New civil service commissioner Tom Fisher was sworn in. A public hearing was held on the 2010 budget and a property tax increase proposal. Commissioners voted to approve the 2010 budget and to raise the levy from $1.44 per $1,000 in assessed home value to $1.50 per $1,000. In order to raise the levy in a year of negative inflation the commissioners also approved a resolution declaring a substantial need. The increased rate will help pay for a new fire station. It was determined that a recent request for firetruck bids was not properly published and the process will restart from scratch. A 1995 Ford Explorer was declared surplus.
