Tragedy in Libby
In response to Nov. 5 editorial: Libby needed help long ago to respond to asbestos.
“The fight is over” is an understatement to say the least. What about those who are still living with asbestosis and mesothelioma? My stepfather suffers daily with breathing problems from working for W.R. Grace and Co. and has never received any financial compensation.
It seems that this plan is being delayed intentionally so that those who are living will not be when the time comes to distribute any such financial compensation.
“While this flurry of activity is cold comfort to the afflicted,” it is also devastating that those living in Libby continue to suffer in a contaminated environment. It is appalling how the process of justice in white-collar crimes is allowed to take decades. Despite the idea of hope being present it almost seems as if they are adding additional insult to injury.
