Leagues announce fall all-league teams
5A and 4A Inland Empire League football coaches announced all-league teams recently.
Coeur d’Alene junior running back Zach Keiser was named the 5A IEL offensive most valuable player. Lake City junior linebacker Brian Griswold was named defensive MVP.
Post Falls junior quarterback Matt Lickfold was named offensive newcomer of the year and Coeur d’Alene junior Jake Matheson was named defensive newcomer of the year.
Coeur d’Alene coach Shawn Amos was named coach of the year.
Players selected to the first-team offense were Justin Podrabsky of Lewiston at QB, Connor Williams of CdA and Connor Imel of Lewiston at running back, Jordan Pastras of Post Falls at utility back, Jeremy Cragin of Post Falls at tight end, Sean Duffy, Drew Moreno and Thomas Tucker of CdA, Chris Schenck and Mike Wanless of Lake City and Jake Pellerin of Post Falls at offensive line and Scott Benner of Post Falls at placekicker.
Players selected to the first-team defense were Dan Zebedeo of LC, Max Noll and Tyler Smotherman of CdA and Josh Wakefield of Lewiston at defensive line, Jared Kennedy of Post Falls, Beau Martz of LC and Cameron Montgomery of CdA at linebacker and Cade Mendoza of CdA, Austin Kiefer of LC, Kevin Muncey of PF and Kyle Mai of Lewiston at defensive back.
Sandpoint senior running back Ben Fisher was named the 4A IEL offensive MVP. Moscow senior Jake Helbling was named the defensive MVP.
Lakeland sophomore quarterback Eric Cooper was named the offensive newcomer of the year and Sandpoint junior Eric Niksaran was named the defensive newcomer of the year.
Sandpoint coach Mike Mitchell was named coach of the year.
Players selected to the first-team offense were Daniel Charvoz of Sandpoint at QB, Cody Hecker of Sandpoint and Eric Pokorny of Lakeland at RB, Mike Hubbard of Sandpoint at WR, A.J. Smith of Sandpoint at TE, Jacob Palaniuk of Sandpoint, Joel Kramer of Sandpoint, Jason Underdahl of Lakeland, Thomas Garner of Lakeland, Drew Papineau and Mike Hayes of Moscow at offensive line.
Players selected to the first-team defense were Shane Kidd and D.J. McIntire of Sandpoint, Kyle Laven of Moscow and Taylor Derrick of Lakeland at defensive line, Luther Morgan and Ray Lee of Sandpoint and Sam Lewis and Justin Parkins of Moscow at LB and Dean Adams of Moscow and Sean Hogan and Anthony Gold of Sandpoint at DB.

Timberlake sophomore Matt Kriz was named MVP. Orofino senior Michael Welch was named offensive player of the year and Orofino senior Bo Brooks was named defensive player of the year. Timberlake senior Mike Conrath was named lineman of the year. Timberlake coach Roy Albertson was named coach of the year.
Players named to the first-team offense were Welch at quarterback, Brooks and John Morris and Cody Aery of Timberlake at RB, Seth Melton of Orofino and Joe Bren of Kellogg at WR, Colton Watt of Bonners Ferry at TE and Jesse Faler and Garth Schilling of Orofino and Kriz, Conrath and Joe Sedillo of Timberlake at offensive line.
Players named to the first-team defense were Watt, Schilling, Conrath and Tim Jones of Timberlake at defensive line, Brooks, Kriz, Morris, Brooks and Mike Riley of Priest River at LB and Melton, Derek Puckett of Timberlake, Taylor Tompke of BF and Tyler Groth of Kellogg at DB.
Derek Tymesen of Timberlake was named at punter, Cody Rabidue of Priest River and Tyke Murdock of Timberlake were named at placekicker and John Shaffer of Timberlake was named at kick returner.

Named to the first team were Danielle Meehan of Post Falls, Paige Schlader of Lewiston, Hilary Ayers of Lake City, Jalana White of Post Falls, Britta Forsythe of Lake City and Kylie Curtis of Coeur d’Alene.
In 4A, seniors Piper Wahlin and Koko James of Sandpoint were named co-players of the year. Moscow sophomore Talia Candler was named newcomer of the year. Sandpoint coach Karen Alsager was coach of the year.
Named to the first team were Brigitte Lowe of Moscow, Jamie Quillin of Lakeland, Jillian Jewett of Moscow, Kaiti Lunde and Christina Johnson of Sandpoint and Alyana Watson of Lakeland.

Lakeside senior Ruth Brunelle was named most valuable player. Others named to the first team were Jennifer Mitchell and Joelle Miller of Lakeside, Monique Lemieux and Brandi Bilaski of Wallace, Shaina Gustafson, Chelsea Macumber, Moranda Becker and Celeste Komanec of Clark Fork and Kami McKinnon of Mullan.

In 5A girls, Hailey Smith of CdA was named MVP. Lewiston senior Lauren Nuxoll was named goalie of the year, Lake City senior Nicole Mederios was named defensive player of the year and Post Falls junior Aubrey Mercier was named newcomer of the year. Lewiston coach Michelle Parson was named coach of the year.
Named to the first team were Rachel Crawford, Megan Roletto and Whitney Wood of CdA, Nikki Webster and Nicole Danner of LC, Tareyn White, Krysta Howard and Heidi Mueller of Post Falls and Jami Gates of Lewiston.
In 4A boys, senior Daniel Anderson of Sandpoint was named MVP. Sandpoint freshman Eric Wehse was named goalie of the year, Moscow senior Mac Stannard was named offensive player of the year and Moscow senior Ben Clark was named defensive player of the year. Sandpoint coach Randy Thoreson was named coach of the year.
Named to the first team were Anders Nostahl, Tanner Williams, Adam Crossingham, Zac Linscott and Jansen Rink of Sandpoint, Tryum Aabakken of Lakeland and David Sanchez, Ian Engerbretson and Nico Sanchez of Moscow.
In 4A girls, Sandpoint senior Alicia Mertz was named MVP. Sandpoint freshman Meghan Pagano was named newcomer of the year, Lakeland senior Marisa Watson was named offensive player of the year, Sandpoint senior Elli Kiselica was named defensive player of the year and Moscow junior Hayley Couture was named goalie of the year.
Named to the first team were Nichole Pagano of Sandpoint, Veronica Ewers, Brooke Mosman, Kylie Hill and Kerry Moller of Moscow and Bailey Thompson and Emily Stecker of Lakeland.
Area coaches named the All-District 1 team.
Lake City senior C.J. Helbling was named the boys’ runner of the year.
Coeur d’Alene junior Kinsey Gomez was named the girls’ runner of the year.
Boys named to the team were Cody Curtis, Kyle Cummings, Alex Hendricks, David Norris and Ben Woolley of Coeur d’Alene, David Marienau and Danny Pfeifer of Sandpoint, Daniel Pinkerton and Rory Ruskovich of Coeur d’Alene Charter, Brian Tucker and Ryan Sacksteder of Timberlake, Dan Scott of LC and Dylan Sweeney of Bonners Ferry.
