Sprague man was in two I-90 accidents, troopers say

A driver left the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 90 near Spokane on Sunday evening and was found in the median about 40 miles to the west two hours later, the Washington State Patrol said today.

Dennis G. Lee, 66, of Sprague, is under investigation in connection with the accidents, troopers said.

They identified him as the driver of a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle that collided with a car driven by Amy Heitz, 28, of Longview, in the eastbound lanes of I-90 about six miles west of downtown Spokane.

Heitz was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center where she was treated for injuries and released.

That accident occurred when the driver of the Beetle went into the left lane and cut off Heitz who left the roadway and struck the median barrier just before 6:30 p.m.

Troopers were searching for the driver of the Beetle, and found the vehicle and Lee two hours later in the median of I-90 near the Adams-Lincoln county line about 40 miles west of Spokane, troopers said.

Lee may have been affected by a medical condition, troopers said.
