Our health system beats others

This morning I accompanied my wife to her appointment with the imaging center for some tests. I learned the tests would be done about two hours apart. “Drat! This is going to consume my whole morning,” I thought.

After briefly considering my attitude I realized that if we were in Canada with its socialized medicine, my wife may have had to enter a lottery just to see a doctor, then be scheduled for tests in several months. In England with its state-run health care she would probably be refused care at age 71. Thankfully, her tests were run and positive results given us immediately. What an awesome system we have.

I fear that if Obamacare – which will eventually evolve into a single-payer system – is implemented, we may be refused care at our age. Further, with about half the doctors threatening to quit or retire rather than practice under government dictates, far fewer people will be treated. And I grumbled about a few hours.

I implore you, my fellow Americans and federal legislators, refuse to implement government-controlled health care. Instead, provide coverage for the 10 million legal, uninsured individuals and leave the rest of us alone. Please.
