Pac-10 picks

I would have lost the house, the car and quite possibly the dog last week. It wasn’t good.

Luckily, it’s not real.

Sort of like California’s ranking last week. Or Oregon’s performance at Boise. So we move on. The promise this week: We’ll do better. The reality: Who knows?

As always, the listed line is for your entertainment purposes only.

UCLA at Stanford (Stanford by 5.5): The Cardinal are for real. The Bruins may not be. But UCLA’s defense certainly is. The hunch here is this will be about turnovers, and UCLA is pretty good at grabbing those. UCLA 24-20.

Oregon State at Arizona State (ASU by 4.5): Is this when the Beavers start to turn it on? Or do they drop to 2-3 overall again? Our guess is the latter. ASU 17-3.

USC at California (USC by 5): Only saw snippets of the Bears loss at Oregon. Saw the entire USC win over WSU. Not at all impressed with the men of Troy. Cal 28-17.

Washington at Notre Dame (Notre Dame by 13): In Seattle, I might even pick this version of Huskies to win. But on the road? Sorry, can’t do it. Notre Dame 31-27.

Washington State at Oregon (Oregon by 32.5): USC is big and strong. This year, the Cougars can handle that. The Ducks are fast. That’s more problematic for WSU. Oregon 42-14.

Last week: 3-2 overall, 1-4 vs. spread. Season: 22-10 overall, 12-15 vs. spread.
