Council unfettered, unabashed

When disincorporation is away, the city council will play. Without disincorporation hanging over this Spokane Valley City Council’s head, they are going to tax, tax, tax and spend, spend, spend. Today we are all facing very tough times, but do our council people care? Six percent tax on each of our phones and now adding 2.9 percent to our property taxes.

Money is tight and people are tightening their belts, but this city council just doesn’t care. They find any way possible to stick their hand a little further down into the stressed-out taxpayer’s pocket.

I drive around seeing the signs for “We (heart) Spokane Valley.” We are more than welcome to pitch in and pay my increased property tax as I am definitely for disincorporation.

I’ve only two words for our city council, and I’ll keep them simple so they can understand: Quit spending!

Valleyfest kudos

The Spokane Valley Exchange Club congratulates all who were involved in Valleyfest. It was a great event for the community.

The Spokane Valley Exchange Club was a participant in the parade and handed out over 2,500 American flags to the kids (and adults). The exchange program is “GiveAKidA FlagToWave” and was adopted by the national organization in 1981. The purpose of the program is designed to cultivate a deeper sense of patriotism and to heighten young Americans’ appreciation and admiration for our country’s flag.
