Feds aren’t the culprits

The Spokesman-Review

I’m a lifelong conservative, but I’ve grown tired of listening to uneducated hypocrites yelling, “Keep government out of health care!”

I’ve got news for you. The only health care that is truly affordable and efficient is Medicare, which is a U.S. government program. Do you know what else is run by local, state and federal governments? Police and fire departments, public schools and road building and repair.

Anything else? Oh yeah, the Environmental Protection Agency that keeps corporations from poisoning our water and air.

Let’s see, what else? Let’s not forget the Food and Drug Administration that makes sure the food we eat and pills we take are safe and effective.

The list goes on. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, National Park Service, Federal Emergency Management Administration. How about the Department of Defense? Yep, run by the U.S. government.

So here’s an idea. Get the government into health care, and get rid of health insurance parasites that deny medical services to dying Americans while raking in devilish profits that turn into huge executive bonuses.
