Roundup: Whits win own event

Led by freshman Christian Boudreau, whose 7-over-par 151 earned him a share of third place, host Whitworth held off defending Northwest Conference champion Linfield to win its own Whitworth Invitational men’s golf tournament Monday at Spokane Country Club.

Whitworth had a 610 to 613 for Linfield, which had the medalist in Tyler Nelson at 3-over 147.

North Idaho Invitational: Community Colleges of Spokane had the top two finishers and three of the first four in rolling to a 596-622 margin over Skagit Valley in a 14-team event at Avondale.

Corey Meyers of CCS was medalist at 2-over 146, a stroke better than teammate Sam Krause. Tyler Johnson’s 151 shared third.

In the nine-team women’s division, Lewis-Clark State, led by medalist Courtney Shrout’s 167, won 514-526 over CCS. NIC was fifth.

Volleyball

Lindsey Petroni, Eastern Washington’s sophomore defensive specialist from Mead, was named co-player of the week by the Big Sky Conference after amassing 47 digs in two 3-1 victories.

Petroni, who had 57 career digs entering the week, had 33 against Idaho, tying for second in school history in a match less than five games.
