Returned Florida quarterback Tim Tebow returned to practice on a limited basis, though he still has not been cleared to play in Saturday’s game against No. 4 LSU. Tebow was in full pads Tuesday and wearing a red non-contact jersey, which is normal for a quarterback. He was taking snaps with the first-team offense and throwing passes.

Retained The manager with the most wins in Florida Marlins history will be given a chance to increase his total. Fredi Gonzalez will return in 2010, the Marlins said, ending two days of speculation about his status. The Marlins, however, will seek a new pitching coach to replace Mark Wiley, who has been offered a different position in the organization.

Signed Cycling great Lance Armstrong has inked a deal with Anheuser-Busch InBev to be the spokesman for the company’s Michelob Ultra brand of beer. The seven-time winner of the Tour de France and the brewer announced a three-year deal.

Added The scoring-challenged Washington Redskins added longtime NFL assistant Sherman Lewis to their staff as an offensive consultant. Lewis has coached for 22 years in the NFL. He announced his retirement after the 2004 season, while working as the offensive coordinator for Detroit.

Investigated The NFL is investigating whether Cleveland Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards violated the league’s conduct policy following accusations he assaulted a man outside a nightclub. Edwards allegedly punched promoter Edward Givens, a friend of NBA star LeBron James, early Monday morning following an argument in downtown Cleveland.

Auctioned Former Nebraska football star Aaron Taylor is being forced to auction his championship rings and the 1997 Outland Trophy he won because he is bankrupt. The Oct. 31 auction was forced by the failure of the Husker-themed Scarlet and Cream Letter Club restaurant Taylor started in Omaha, Neb., with other former players and his resulting bankruptcy. Proceeds from the auction will help pay some of Taylor’s debts.

Scheduled Utah Jazz guard C.J. Miles is scheduled to have surgery today to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hand.
