Orphans choir plans concerts

The Ugandan Orphans Choir, whose members live on the Ssese Islands in Lake Victoria in East Africa, plans to visit Northwest Christian Elementary School, 5104 E. Bernhill Road in Colbert, on Wednesday, to perform two concerts.

The children will sing and dance in their national costumes for the students at a 9 a.m. chapel service, and again at 7 p.m. for the community.

The Ugandan Orphans Choir is a ministry of Childcare Worldwide, supporting children orphaned by AIDS. Childcare Worldwide builds villages where children receive care and education.

Congresswoman will be at open house

U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers will be in Spokane at the National Guard Armory, 1626 N. Rebecca St., on Tuesday, from 6 to 9 p.m., to speak with ninth- through 12th- graders at a military service academy open house.
