Linfield at Whitworth

KICKOFF: 1 p.m., Pine Bowl at Whitworth

Records: Linfield 4-0, 1-0 NWC; Whitworth 2-3, 0-1

TV/Radio: SWX/1230-AM

Overview: The Pirates, who suffered their most lopsided conference loss since 2002 when they fell 42-13 at Willamette last week, face another stiff test against No. 7 Linfield, which opened the season with wins over then-ranked Hardin-Simmons and current No. 24 Occidental. Hardin-Simmons beat Whitworth 48-31 in the season opener. Linfield has scored at least 31 points in every game. The Wildcats rank second in total defense in the NWC. Whitworth quarterback Andrew Durant has been solid (seven touchdowns, two interceptions, 186 yards passing per game), but the running game has struggled without Adam Anderson, who is out for the season after reinjuring his ankle last week. Whitworth is averaging just 2.8 yards per carry.
