Greenbriar offers variety of classes

Setting up a home bar, creating a vegetarian brunch, making sushi, cooking the dishes of Baja Mexico and preparing gifts from the kitchen are among the fall classes offered at Greenbriar Inn in Coeur d’Alene.

Owner Kris McIlvenna has invited several area chefs to teach classes that can help home cooks expand their repertoire.

Brunch for Vegetarians – 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, $45.

Home Bartending – Bartender Jeremy Voeller, 4-7 p.m., Sunday, $60.

Indian Summer Night Dinner – 6-9 p.m., Monday, $45.

Sushi – Chef Chris Lovejoy (with saketinis), 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Oct. 24, $45.

Baja Mexico Cooking Part 1 – Chef Lynne Wiedemann, soups, salsas and sauces, 6-9 p.m., Oct. 26, $45.

Baja Mexico Cooking Part 2 – Wiedemann, masa, mole and more, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Oct. 31, $45.

Martinis and Tapas – Chef Derek Eakin of 315 Martinis and Tapas, 6-9 p.m., Nov. 2, $45

Efficient Cooking – Chef Anthony Hall, of Anthony’s Restaurant and Scratch, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Nov. 7, $50.

Classic Sauces with Unusual Ingredients – Chef Alex Nebrensky, sous chef and saucier at the Hayden Lake Country Club, 6-9 p.m., Nov. 9, $50.

Gifts from the Kitchen – Kris McIlvenna, 6-9 p.m., Nov. 16, $45.

Dine out for seniors

Eat a meal at one of nine local restaurants tomorrow and owners will donate a portion of each tab to Valley Meals on Wheels.

Dine Out … So No Senior Goes Hungry will be held Thursday at Buck’s Pizza, Cuppa Joe’s Café, Fiesta Grande, Jenny’s Café, O’Doherty’s Irish Pub, Ron’s Drive-In, Sri Passart, Staggering Ox and Tasty House.

Valley Meals on Wheels provides home-delivered meals for elderly people who are homebound and people with disabilities in the greater Spokane Valley area. It also makes meals for 11 senior centers throughout Spokane County.
