Obama owes Bush thanks

The Spokesman-Review

My congratulations to President Barack Obama on his surprising award of the Nobel Peace Prize. It seems based more on intent and attitude than accomplishment as yet.

Once again, I think the president owes a debt of gratitude to George W. Bush. If the previous administration had not been the most disastrous in American history, chances are Obama wouldn’t have become the nation’s first African-American president. And if the Bush-Cheney foreign policy had not been the greatest threat to world peace on the planet, Obama may not have received this award. I’m sure he benefited greatly by comparison.
