Prep roundup: Mt. Spokane rallies

Visiting Mt. Spokane spotted East Valley a 2-0 lead Thursday night before roaring back to claim a 3-2 Greater Spokane League win over the Knights.

The Wildcats (7-1 GSL) took advantage of a couple of missed serves by EV (3-6) to change the momentum in the third game and dominated from that point to remain in second place in the league standings.

Ixchelle Oleson finished with 16 kills and five aces for the winners, while Allie Riggin paced EV with 21 kills and two blocks.

•Elsewhere in the GSL: Visiting Mead used eight blocks and a pair of aces from Alexis Olgard, along with eight kills from Madison Dahlstrom, to sweep past Gonzaga Prep 3-0. The league-leading and unbeaten Panthers (7-0) also got 10 digs from Chelsey Pangborn, while Allison Reed paced G-Prep (6-2) with seven kills. … Brandy Johnson dominated the middle with 12 kills and teammate Shannon Giusti dished out 26 assists as Central Valley (5-3) posted a 3-0 win over visiting Ferris (2-6). Kelsey Solberg finished with 12 digs for the Bears. … Kaitlen Kelly finished with 13 digs and three aces and teammate Sam Hill dominated at the net with eight kills and nine blocks as visiting North Central (2-6) put away Rogers 3-0. The Pirates (0-8) got eight kills from Aley Roberts.

•Great Northern League: Shaniqua Nilles had a match-high nine kills and Bailey Wold finished with six aces as West Valley (8-2) brushed aside visiting Cheney 3-0. The losing Blackhawks got (3-7) eight digs from Millie Holly. … Visiting Clarkston (5-5) used big finishes in three games and a match-high 17 digs from KC McConnell to beat Medical Lake (1-9) 3-1, despite the 10 kills, each, from Cassie Shoben and Gabrielle Daily. … Amanda Duncan served six straight points in the fourth game and finished with five aces as visiting Riverside (5-5) beat Deer Park (1-9) 3-1.

•Inland Empire League 4A: Piper Wahlin had 12 kills and three blocks, and teammate Christina Johnson came up with 15 digs as visiting Sandpoint (20-4, 4-0) spoiled Lakeland’s Senior Night by posting a 3-0 win over the Hawks (15-10, 1-3).

•Intermountain League: League-leading St. Maries (17-3, 8-0) used some splendid serving and stingy defense, along with 13 kills from Marlee Masterson and 26 assists from Jaylee Sines, to sweep visiting Priest River (8-11, 5-2) 3-0. … Kellogg’s Samie Squires served 26 points and handed out five assists in leading the visiting Wildcats (3-4 IML) to a 3-1 win over Bonners Ferry (2-6).

Boys soccer

•Idaho 4A Region I: Jeff Rokstad scored one goal and assisted on another at Sandpoint turned back visiting Moscow 3-0 in the title match of the Idaho 4A Region I tournament. The win moved the Bulldogs (13-1-2) into the State 4A tournament, which starts Thursday at Brothers Park in Caldwell. Moscow finished its season at 10-5-2.

Girls soccer

Great Northern League: Briana Estrellado and Kellie Zakrzewski each scored a goal for visiting Cheney and the league-leading Blackhawks (11-1, 9-1) dominated throughout in shutting out Deer Park (5-6, 5-5) 2-0. … Courtney Hossfeld scored three goals and raised her season total to seven as West Valley (8-3, 7-3) blanked winless Riverside (0-11, 0-10) 1-0. … Visiting Medical Lake (5-7, 5-5) outscored Clarkston 3-0 in a shootout after the two teams battled to a 0-0 tie in regulation play.
