Titans upend LC
Gleason’s field goal gives U-Hi victory
University wasn’t ready to join the ranks of the in-betweens Thursday night.
Aaron Gleason booted a 25-yard field goal with 3 seconds remaining to lift University to a 30-27, come-from-behind victory over Lewis and Clark in a Greater Spokane League football game.
The GSL has been defined this season by the vast disparity separating the haves and have-nots, and University (5-2, 5-2 GSL) avoided joining LC (3-4, 2-4) somewhere in the middle. The Titans remained a game behind a crowded field atop the GSL standings.
LC knotted the score at 27-all with Levi Taylor’s 5-yard touchdown run with 1:45 remaining, but the Tigers failed to convert the extra point to take the lead. U-Hi quarterback Tony Tabish completed four passes on the ensuing drive, and his 27-yard strike to receiver Aaron Blaska moved the ball to the LC 5 and set up Gleason’s winner.
David Lee’s 59-yard touchdown run gave LC a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter, but Tabish directed three scoring drives to turn the Titans’ two-touchdown deficit into a 21-14 lead.
Taylor, who finished with 147 yards on 18 carries, raced 87 yards for a touchdown to knot the score at 21-21. Tabish and Blaska connected for their second touchdown pass on a 17-yarder to put the Titans back in front, 27-21.
Tabish finished 23 for 30 for 284 yards, and Blaska was his top target with nine receptions for 145 yards.

Zach Keiser rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns to power the Vikings to the non-league victory at Albi. Keiser scored each of his touchdowns in the second quarter to lead CdA to a 35-0 halftime lead. Backup tailback Cody Schneider racked up 122 yards on just five carries for the Vikings, including an 89-yard touchdown romp.
