Perfect attendance could mean new bike

Skyway Elementary fifth-graders will have the opportunity to get a new bike this school year, just for being on time.

Parker Toyota and Horace Mann Insurance have come to together to encourage students to have perfect attendance all year. Students must make it to class before every bell, every day.

Perfect attendance guidelines to earn a bike are: full attendance for all four quarters of school, no tardies and no early releases. Students will have their names placed in a drawing for a bike if they earn three quarters, to allow for necessary absences due to illness, of perfect attendance.

The Panhandle Health District and Skyway Elementary School nurses are expressing concern about the seasonal and H1N1 (swine) flu. They are emphasizing that if students are sick, they need to stay home.
