Citizens must step up

The Spokesman-Review

In these days of bitter political divisions, rampant dishonesty, failed business ethics, religious bickering, prejudice, disregard for meaningful regulations, lack of common sense and civility, greed, failed international leadership, unfair tax laws and special interests in control of our government, we find ourselves in a deep economic recession which will lead us into a “Third World status.” Collectively, we need to correct the above.

Question: “Are we part of the problem or can we be part of the solution?” Good citizenship requires we should be part of the solution. It is too easy to blame others for our shortcomings. Get involved. Write letters. Make calls. Vote.

Good description of America. Unfortunately, writing letters, making calls and voting doesn’t seem to help much. The entrenched interests are really, really entrenched. Most people know that and about the only thing you can really do is to duck.
