Baby dies of swine flu complications at Spokane hospital
A 5-month-old baby from Franklin County died at Sacred Heart Medical Center Monday of complications from H1N1 influenza.
It’s the state’s first pediatric death of the current flu season and the first death of a Franklin County resident attributed to H1N1, or swine flu, since the outbreak began last spring, according to a news release from the Benton-Franklin Health District.
Gov. Chris Gregoire said in the release, “The last thing we want to hear about is the death of any of our residents, but it is especially hard when it is a child.”
The Benton-Franklin Health District has a “very limited” supply of H1N1 vaccine, which it is distributing to health care providers there, the release said.

If you’re going to put such limited information why even write the article. What were the ‘complications’? Was there a preexisiting condition? Did the parents wait to long to take the sick kid in? These are the kind of dumb articles that have caused unnecessary panic over just another strain of the flu.

It is so sad of the child’s death, the parents should give the child a good care and immediate bring him to see doctor as soon as if he has sick, it is may a swine plu symptom. Child was 5 month-old, too small to protect himself. The parents should do take care and pay attention on highly!

Sincere condolences to the family of this child.
I wonder if any statistics will be kept on how health care coverage or lack there of contributes to survival rates of H1N1. My guess is that people without coverage will wait longer to seek medical assistance with dire consequence. One more reason for a complete reform of our health care delivery system.
